Website Security

01Your site can work flawlessly. But is its data protected?

Most business owners evaluate a site by its appearance, speed, and number of applications.

Safety usually remains invisible.

Before the first incident.

A hacked site may lose data, start redirecting visitors to third-party resources, or send spam.

If the system stores personal data of customers, the consequences can be much more serious.

At Cligora Digital Studio, we consider data protection to be part of the correct architecture, not an additional feature.

02HTTPS – minimum required

The address of a secure site starts with HTTPS.

This protocol encrypts the information transmitted between the user's browser and the server.

This is especially important for forms, authorizations, and pages where personal data is entered.

But an SSL certificate does not protect against all types of attacks.

HTTPS provides connection protection. The security of the application itself requires separate solutions.

03Protect forms from malicious requests

Contact forms, search, comments, and authorization fields accept data from users.

This data cannot be considered secure.

If the application does not process the entered information correctly, the attacker may try to perform SQL injection, inject malicious JavaScript, or bypass checks.

To prevent such problems, server validation, parameterized SQL queries, correct output escapement, and other protection mechanisms are used.

In Laravel there are built-in tools for this, but the developer must apply them correctly.

04Passwords and two-factor authentication

A weak password remains one of the easiest ways to gain unauthorized access to the system.

It is especially dangerous to use the same passwords for the admin panel, email, and hosting.

A strong authorization system should include secure storage of passwords, limiting login attempts, and the ability to use multi-factor authentication.

For administrative accounts, an additional protection factor is especially desirable.

05Access rights

Not every employee needs to have access to all the company's data.

It may be enough for a manager to review applications. A content manager to edit pages. An administrator to manage the system.

If all users receive the same rights, a single bug or compromised account can create a serious problem.

In CRM and corporate portals, access rights must be designed before development.

06Backups are not a substitute for security

Backups help restore a site after a crash or incident.

But they do not prevent information theft.

Therefore, effective protection combines prevention, monitoring and the possibility of recovery.

Periodically, it is necessary to check not only the availability of archives, but also the ability to actually restore the system from them.

07Why can't updates be postponed?

Vulnerabilities are regularly found in software.

For many of them, the developers release fixes.

If the site continues to use outdated libraries or components, the risk of exploiting known problems increases.

Therefore, technical support should include dependency checking, updates, and compatibility testing.

08What should I do if the site has already been hacked?

First, you need to restrict further unauthorized access.

After that, find out the cause of the incident, check the integrity of files and databases, change compromised credentials, and eliminate the vulnerability.

Simply restoring the backup will not solve the problem if the reason for the hack remains.

If the incident concerns personal data, the relevant legal obligations must also be assessed.

09Safe development starts before launch

The best moment to implement protection is the stage of creating a website.

At Cligora Digital Studio, we develop websites, CRM systems, and customized web applications based on data verification, authorization, access control, and secure server logic.

If your business needs a secure website or an individual management system, we will help you design a solution according to its functions and risks.
